My work embraces my aphantasia. As I have no functioning mind’s eye I take this a step further by creating sculptures blindfolded; working without inner or outer vision. This leaves me free to create without conscious planning, inner critique or assessment – my work is a direct embodiment of my emotions. Once my blindfold is removed the pieces are embellished and painted. I use reinforced air drying clay, paint/powder pigment, melted glass and copper. For more, visit: artphantasia.com.
Aphantasia is key to my artistic expression. Without a mind’s eye, I find that I am drawn to the initial stages of sculpting without seeing at all.
