Routine Gatherer

In addition to having real difficulties imaging images (and spelling) I have an unusual ability to find new examples of types of objects – another lady’s slipper orchid, say, or a specific kind of tree or mushroom.  I am also of classifying objects to their types -the species and variety of tree e.g. and possibly the general conditions it must have grown in.  Strangely, this is only true of types of objects – I am not unusually good at finding (say) a misplaced pen.  I have always thought that these might be related – that I don’t remember things as examples of their images but rather at some level as their abstractions / Platonic ideals.  I am not finding any research about any link but am only too aware that don’t know what search words to try.
