Role Description

As a Community Translator for the Aphantasia Network, you will play a pivotal role in making our resources accessible to a global audience. Your expertise in languages will help bridge the gap between cultures and ensure that our content is not only linguistically accurate but also culturally resonant. By reviewing and refining AI-translated content, you will help us maintain the integrity and clarity of our message across various languages.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough reviews of AI-translated website content in your language of expertise
  • French, Spanish, German, Simplified Chinese, or Arabic).
  • Correct grammatical errors and adjust syntax to ensure readability and fluency.
  • Adapt cultural references and idiomatic expressions to maintain their relevance and impact in the target language.
  • Collaborate with the content team to understand the nuances and context of the original material.
  • Provide feedback on any consistent issues observed in AI translations to help improve the overall translation process.
  • Ensure that the translated content maintains the tone, style, and intent of the original English text.
  • Work within agreed-upon deadlines to ensure timely updates to the website content.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in English and native-level fluency in at least one of the following languages:
    • French
    • Spanish
    • German
    • Simplified Chinese
    • Arabic.
  • Strong understanding of grammatical rules and the ability to edit text for clarity, accuracy, and flow in the target language.
  • Sensitivity to cultural nuances and the ability to convey them in translation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a global, multicultural team.
  • Previous experience in translation, linguistics, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Passion for the mission of the Aphantasia Network and a willingness to contribute to its success as a volunteer.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about language, communication, and the mission of the Aphantasia Network to foster a global conversation about aphantasia. Your contributions will ensure that our content is accessible and engaging to non-English speakers around the world.
