As a certified Grief Counselor, I have a Masters in Counseling Psychology, licensed as a Marriage & Family Therapist since 2007. I see adults in person or on zoom. Having aphantasia myself has opened me to both the challenges and gifts aphantasia brings to grief, but also to life.

As a grief therapist who has experienced the loss of my life partner, I am well acquainted with the journey grief takes us on… as well as the riches to be mined when we grieve consciously and with good support. I am dedicated to helping others who are suffering with grief over a variety of personal losses.
And among those losses, I count the discovery as adults that we have aphantasia. When we are presented with the idea that our minds work differently than most people's, we can experience tremendous grief and often a sense that we are not whole. We can think of ourselves as “blind” in comparison to others.
And yet, as with any kind of grief we work WITH instead of ignoring or distracting from, there are unexpected riches to be mined. That is the work I love to do with my clients. In embracing aphantasia, we can discover possibilities more difficult for the majority of people whose minds never stop creating pictures for them. We can learn more easily to embrace calm and patience in a turbulent world.
