i love reading fiction books, but sometimes when the text gets heavily descriptive, i tend to skip it because it doesn’t feel important to me since i can’t conjure it in my head. Like- why do i need to read a whole page that just describes a tree??
but a few pages later i realize i missed something important from the part i skimmed, i feel lost and i have to go back to find the context i missed. it’s exhausting to search for what i need
since i can code, my friend and i are building an app to help me with this. it does two things. when you got confused, you can tap a text and it shows you right on the same page, the sentence where the author explained a character, settings, or an event. You can jump to the page where that text is referring to, and then continue to read, without having to go back to previous pages and search for it manually
and every character gets a little symbol that shows up next to their name and every description of them, so you can tell who’s who at a glance. it only uses what you’ve already read, so it never spoils anything.
you can try the solution concept here
what do you guys think? do you face the same problem? and when it happens, what do you usually do?
