Piano

1 min readByEileen Ewart
I have battled for a year to try and learn to play the piano. I couldn’t remember where all the notes were on the scale to read the music sheet. Even writing it down didn’t help. If I could have had a mental image of the notes on the score it would have helped so much. As it was I had to keep referring to the written memory joggers. Have given up now as it was too hard and I felt that each time I sat down to play a piece I had to relearn all the notes
Has anyone else had this problem

Yes. I was never able to read music. I could decipher the notes using mnemonic phrases, such as "every good boy does fine", but it was a laborious process. I stopped taking piano lessons by the time I was about 12 years old.
