This really hit home for me, as I was diagnosed as ADD, (or ADHD without hyperactivity) about 30 years ago. I’ve now learned that I’m also 100% aphantasic. It’s been a lonely journey, but I’m relieved to know that I’m not alone.
What a beautiful and inspiring response.
I’m very new to the term ‘aphantasia’, but I’m 100% ‘aphantasic’, if that’s even a term. In addition to ADD, major depression and anxiety, this new addition to the many layers of ‘me’ had a slightly stinging effect, since I’d already felt very different; almost like an outsider for most of my life. Although I’m very thankful that I hadn’t seen the article referenced, I found yours to be informative and very helpful as I process my feelings about this subject and how it’s impacted my life. Most importantly, thank you for confirming that I’m not just ‘furniture’; as I was originally thinking that I would make a nice floor lamp. ;)
