I have always had really good spatial awareness or spatial memory however you describe it. I just know that it will work. It's like a warm feeling in my torso. The flip side applies as well. I know when things are "wrong". I worked on some pretty complex stuff in the military and as a civilian. I had an uncanny ability to know what was wrong, obviously there was good training involved. It got to the point that none of my Marines would bet me what the problem was. Are you a logical, analytical thinker? I'm pretty sure that plays into it a lot. I described it as having a blank slate. I "think" like there is a card catalog, go to the subject, drill down and get that thing I need. Plug the things together and it either works or it fails.
