Total multisensory aphant (discovered others have visual imagery at age 70) I seem to have some sort of selective SDAM - very poor memory of many key autobiographical events, but very good memory of others

Alice, I have included that I am very much looking forward to attending a member meetup, although I will be in the air on Nov 27.

I did join Aphantasia Network a few days ago. I have a discord account. I simply cannot find a link to join. I do not see a Contact page. Am I just being totally dense? I sent an email to Aphantasia Network (help@ ...) but have received no response. can you help me?

I do not know if this is an appropriate use of this mechanism. I joined Aphantasia Network earlier this week to see yesterday's presentation about anendophasia, and I believe we communicated in the chat as a sidebar. If I want to continue this discussion, and you are game, is the way to do that through directly the Discord site? I now have access to Discord but have been unable to find a way to get invited to, or otherwise enter, the AN server?
Can selective memory shape our recollections of significant events? Share your experiences and insights on this intriguing phenomenon.
On “Is SDAM more of a diferentiator than Aphantasia?”
I have an extremely selective episodic memory. I am 71 and a complete multisensory aphant. I was flabbergasted about a year ago to learn that, eg, some people really see images of sheep in their minds when counting sheep, ie, that some have visual imagery. I also have very poor memory of many of the most important autobiographical events such as anything but the broadest details of my wedding or the delivery of my children. (I thought I have SDAM.) On the other hand, over my whole life when I have told my friends that I have a poor memory, they have also said that this was not true, as I have a very detailed memory of experiences from long ago. I have only very recently come to the conclusion that I do not have SDAM (or maybe a slight degree of it), but have an extremely selective memory, and have been thinking about whether I can discover any principles that govern how my brain decides what it will select to remember and what it will forget.
