How can one visualize colors and furniture arrangements without a mental image? Exploring the nuances of spatial awareness and memory.
On “How did you first discover aphantasia?”
I am at the extreme of aphantasia on the test - I see nothing in my mind at all, but strangely can imagine a colour scheme in a room or furniture placings but not in picture form, I just know how they would look somehow. I do see things in my very vivid and story like dreams though. I can draw well but only by copying a photo or picture or an actual scene. Never from memory. I can tell you where in the fridge an item is quite precisely but I don't actually see it. somehow I just remember. I often wonder in aphantasic people may not suffer from PTSD quite so badly as others as they can't revisit the distressing time in picture detail???
