On “How did you first discover aphantasia?”
I am 51, and I realised I have this and auditory aphantasia yesterday. I was asking AI about a line in a book about a character waiting until his mind had finished speaking. AI told me about these and SDAM and I told it I have all those. I genuinely couldn't believe that people hear a sentence they are reading, or can visualise an apple. I just realised people actually count sheep and have emotional responses to memories they can see. I can see how it is a positive way to be in many ways, but I feel that I now understand why I don't feel as emotional as other people do. I have felt guilty about this for years.
