Guided meditation frustrations

Hello all, I have had so many false starts with guided meditation because they invariably start with “close your eyes and visualize”. As an aphantasic, I can’t do that so I would get frustrated and quit. Anybody with a similar experience?

Should I be concerned with my imagination ?

Hello everyone, sorry if this has weird formatting I’m using my phone instead of my laptop. I have a very vivid imagination, to the point I did the test and came out being  hyperphantasic. Now, that’s not really a problem, but I want to ask the peeps here with better experience, should I be concerned […]

Aphantasia and memory

My memories are almost nonexistent, as I can not relive experiences or see anything from the past, therefore rely on just facts. But I also struggle to retain these facts, making me feel like I have no memories at all. I want to able to be in the future and look at what I have […]

Acting with Aphantasia

Hello all I’m a full aphantasic with no visual imagery, no internal monologue, no touch, no smell and no taste(in terms of imagination). I’m a musical theatre performer who has been struggling really hard in the acting aspect. I am curious as to whether there are any actor friends here who experience similar problems and […]

Empathy/Relating to Others with Aphantasia

Hi! So I was wondering if other people have trouble empathising with people (close ones or not). I have trouble feeling empathetic for my friends or someone if they are sad or something is going on in their lives. I know what I need to do but I don’t feel genuine most of the time. […]

SSRI-Induced Aphantasia?

Discarding “useless” information

I am 48 and I am in awe of my brain. I like I’m sure, most who have just discovered they have aphantasia, are the least to say surprised. I thought people having images in their heads, like playing the ” I am going to the shops to buy something memory game” eg I am […]

Bringing Faith to life with out mental imagery

Hi, I am new to the network so I apologise if this post isn’t suitable. I am not here to start a religious debate or anything like that . I am just really interested in hearing from anyone who has any sort of faith and how you potentially connect to what you believe. I have […]

Shouldn’t we have a global aphantasia awareness day?

Doesn’t it therefore make sense to simply proclaim an annual awareness day?  I think it would be a good idea to draw attention to cognitive diversity at the same time – i.e. an “cognitive diversity and aphantasia awareness day“. How would you like to “see” us use a little self-irony to bring some attention to […]
